During a recent livestream conversation, Elon Musk said he was moving towards the idea of charging all X (former Twitter) users a small monthly fee.
Musk was engaged in a dialogue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The topics covered during their discussion spanned artificial intelligence, the issue of antisemitism, and Musk’s forthcoming initiatives for X, which was formerly known as Twitter.
One notable revelation made by Musk was X’s contemplation of introducing a modest monthly fee for users as a measure to counteract the proliferation of “large numbers of automated bots.” The exact pricing details and the specific features included in this plan, however, were not disclosed. Musk did share some insightful statistics about X, disclosing that it currently boasts 550 million monthly users who collectively generate between 100 and 200 million posts each day. Nevertheless, he refrained from specifying the proportion of genuine users versus automated bots and did not provide a direct comparison with Twitter’s prior metrics.
