Elon Musk sets up an AI company – AI

Elon Musk has established a new artificial intelligence (AI) company in Nevada, USA called “X.AI”, according to a state filing.

As per a report in the Wall Street Journal, Musk is the only named director of the company, while Jared Birchall, director of Musk’s family office, is the secretary. The filing was made last month & X.AI has approved the sale of 100 million shares. The news follows an earlier report by the Financial Times, which stated that Musk was hiring engineers & speaking to investors in Tesla & SpaceX about launching an AI startup to rival OpenAI. The FT report also claimed that Musk had acquired “thousands” of GPU processors from Nvidia Corporation.

Musk has been vocal about his concerns about AI, warning that it could represent an existential risk to humanity. He has previously supported OpenAI, a non-profit research company that aims to develop safe AI, & this year he launched Neuralink, a company that aims to create a brain-computer interface. X.AI’s focus remains unknown, but Musk has previously spoken about the potential for AI to revolutionize the healthcare industry by automating the analysis of medical data.

X.AI is Musk’s latest company, joining Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, Neuralink & SolarCity.
