“Tokkingheads” uses AI to animate photos – Startups

Tokkingheads, developed by RosebudAI, lets users bring static portrait images to life with the help of AI. Turn any selfie image into a video in 3 easy steps.

To get started users can head over to the Web interface & choose from a selection of pre-made avatars, or upload their own headshot. It’s important to note that if a user chooses their own photo, they must select a clear face view since the app works best with head & shoulder shots. After selecting the avatar, users can select from a variety of avatars that are neatly categorized to make the job easier. Once the avatar is selected the user can move on to animating the portrait shot.

To animate the headshot, users can choose to use a selection of readymade videos or upload their own. Additionally, avatars can be animated by using one of the premade audio files, or they can upload their own audio. If that’s not enough to excite potential users a third option exists whereby users can simply type in text for the avatar to “speak”. The last generation step is to select a closeup of the face or a “body view”. After the user has made their selection, the app generates the video which usually takes a few minutes.

The generated video can then be shared on social media directly from the app, or the user can choose to download or share a link to the content which is stored on Tokkingheads’ server.

Tokkingheads is totally free to use from the Web & iOS, but the resultant video is watermarked. For users who prefer unmarked videos the company offers a variety of subscriptions. The top paid plan offers unlimited video generation. All plans have a free trial period of 3 days.
