Snap has unveiled changes for Snapchat at its Snap Partner Summit. Besides easier navigation that comes with an action bar at the bottom, Snap will also now allow developers to create mini apps for Snapchat.

is unveiling some important changes for at its Snap Partner Summit. The navigation has been rethought with a new action bar at the bottom that lets you access Snap Map and Snap Originals in just a tap. Snap Map is also getting some brand new features to compete head-to-head with Google Maps. A new banner called ‘Happening Now’ is also being rolled out to all users in the U.with a curated selection of stories at the top of the Discover tab.

Snap allows developers to create ‘mini’ apps for Snapchat – engadget

Snapchat is bringing third-party apps into its app with “Minis,” pared down versions of popular apps that can be accessed during conversations in Snapchat

The news follows Snapchat’s move last year to open its app to outside game developers. But Minis expands Snap’s work with third-party app makers to include a range of social experiences that aren’t just games. The apps are tailored around social experiences you can share while casually chatting with friends. All of the miniaturized apps will live in the app’s chat section, alongside Snapchat’s built-in games.

Snapchat adds voice commands so you don’t have to search for the right filter – engadget

One of Snapchat’s biggest strengths is its augmented reality platform. The company has credited the popularity of its lenses with helping drive much of the app’s recent growth and the company has a large and dedicated group of “lens creators” who create AR effects for the app.
