Google’s Flutter sees “tremendous” growth – News


Google’s Open UI development platform Flutter has seen some great growth in the past few months.

Product Manager for Flutter Tim Sneath wrote on Medium that over two million developers had used Flutter in the 16 months since its release. “Despite these unprecedented circumstances, in March we saw 10% month-over-month growth, with nearly half a million developers now using Flutter each month”, he says.

Here are some other interesting statistics:

  • 60% of users are developing with Windows, 27% are using macOS, & 13% are using Linux.
  • 35% of users work for a startup, 26% are enterprise developers, 19% are self-employed, & 7% work for design agencies.
  • 78% of Flutter developers use the stable channel, 11% use beta, & 11% use either dev or master.
  • The top 5 territories for Flutter are India, China, the United States, the EU, & Brazil.
  • There are approximately 50,000 Flutter apps published in the Play Store, with nearly 10,000 uploaded in the last month alone.
  • The most popular framework packages used in Flutter apps are httpshared_preferencesintlmetapath_provider & pedantic.
  • The most popular 3rd-party packages used in Flutter apps are providerrxdartcached_network_imagesqflitefont_awesome_flutter & flutter_launcher_icons.
