LinkedIn Elevate: A new social media app for companies & employees

Social network for professionals LinkedIn has launched ‘LinkedIn Elevate’, a mobile & Web app that will help companies & their employees curate Content, share it on social networks, & measure the impact, thus eking out more social mileage for the brand.

Announcing this on its official blog, Will Sun wrote: LinkedIn Elevate combines algorithmic recommendations from LinkedIn Pulse and Newsle, and human curation, to equip employees with a ready stream of relevant content they can share.

Sharing using the LinkedIn Elevate iOS, Android, & desktop apps, would be simple & seamless, claimed Sun. Employees can easily share Content on LinkedIn & Twitter, & take advantage of LinkedIn Elevate’s intelligent scheduling capabilities to ensure their Content gets shared when their networks are most active.

LinkedIn Elevate also has an analytics tools with which employees & companies can see how many times Content they’ve shared had been liked, commented on, or reshared, + how many people it had managed to reach. Down the line, users of LinkedIn Elevate will also be able to get even more insights, like who’s viewed their profile & requested to connect as a result of the Content they’d shared.

LinkedIn Elevate has been in the works for some time now. In the pilot project, companies such as Adobe, Quintiles, Unilever, among others, participated. The result? LinkedIn claimed employees who had participated in the pilot had shared 6 times more often than in the months leading up to the pilot. As a result, Quintiles employees who participated in the pilot received 4 times more profile views & made 2 times more connections, while Unilever employees drove 4 times more Company Page views, 2 times more Company Page followers, & 6 times more job views.

LinkedIn thought of launching Elevate realizing the fact that relatively few companies recognized the fact that when they empowered their employees to be social media professionals, “they could also change the trajectory of their businesses.” Some companies were also not empowering their employees to be social professionals because of a basic lack of tools needed to effectively curate Content.

LinkedIn Elevate is available today by invitation only, & will be generally available by Q3.
