ChatGPT, Bard & now Bedrock – AI

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched Bedrock, a platform that enables users to build & scale generative AI applications such as chatbots, text generation & image generation.

The platform provides a range of pre-trained models that users can customize & integrate into their own applications using AWS tools. Amazon said foundation models include Google-backed Anthropic’s Claude, AI21 Labs’ Jurassic-2 & Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion, which converts text into images & graphics. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said Bedrock enabled companies to work off a foundational model that is already large and customize it for their own needs.

Bedrock is Amazon’s strongest play in the generative AI space, but the company is yet to announce pricing. In a blog post, AWS called Bedrock a “massive step forward in democratizing” foundational models (FMs) & said Deloitte, C3.ai, Pegasystems & Accenture were among a large number of companies interested in using the platform.

While Bedrock is not to be confused with AI-powered chatbots such as Google’s Bard or OpenAI’s ChatGPT, it will allow users to build such applications. The platform is designed to enable firms to work with large language models without the need to spend billions of dollars training them from scratch. AWS said it was offering a curated menu of FM models that users could customize for their own purposes. However, Bedrock has not been formally priced, leaving users unsure of costs.
