Elon Musk revealed during a live audio session on Twitter that his new AI startup, “xAI”, will utilize Twitter data to train its artificial intelligence (AI) systems and products.
Musk, who is the owner and chairman of xAI, also expressed his intention for the startup to collaborate with Tesla on both the “silicon front” and the “AI software front”. However, he did not disclose any details regarding the cost of the Twitter data for xAI or his other companies. Musk alleged that all AI organizations have illegally used Twitter’s data for training, although he did not provide any evidence to support his claim.
Musk stated emphatically that in his view it is clear that AGI is going to happen — and soon. He did outline a specific timeline in which he expects AGI to actually be a viable reality: roughly by 2029.
In October 2022, Musk led a buyout of Twitter, which resulted in the company taking on $13 billion in new debt. Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Co., where Musk is a founder or CEO, have a history of conducting business together. Musk mentioned that xAI will also utilize public tweets for training, as many other AI software developers have done. Twitter’s data set is suitable for text, image, and video training, according to Musk.
During the session, a Tesla fan and promoter asked Musk about xAI’s potential use of Nvidia- or Tesla-made silicon for data processing. Musk responded by saying that it was a question more relevant to Tesla.
