Google plans to move all Pixel device production out of China in 2027.

The company has told suppliers it wants Pixel smartphones, smartwatches and wireless earbuds built outside of China starting then.

Most of Google's products are still manufactured in the country, but the Pixel pullback is the culmination of a process the company began in 2019, when it started shifting capacity to Vietnam and India.

Nikkei frames the decision as taking place amid broader geopolitical friction, pointing to ongoing Washington-Beijing tensions that have prompted other technology firms to diversify where their hardware is made.

For buyers the change is prosaic: devices that today carry a Chinese place of manufacture will increasingly show different origins. For Google it closes a chapter of relocation that the company has been managing for years rather than a sudden exit.

The move is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
