‘EnigmaLink’ is Cloud service for privately sharing Google Drive links

engima

This service could be for you if you’ve ever needed to share a Google Drive file but are worried about prying eyes looking into its Content, or just want to use your free & bountiful Google Cloud storage as a platform for securely sharing stuff outside Google’s ecosystem.

This service, which you access via your browser, takes documents which it encrypts prior to sending them to your Google Drive account, & creates a link & a QR code, which you can then share via email, text message or Twitter. It’s a fast, secure way for sharing documents with your friends or colleagues & between smartphones, tablets & computers.

A QR code is generated by the browser for each document, onto a special folder on your Google Drive, which is the only folder EnigmaLink can access. The encryption is done with highly secure AES hardware encryption & neither Enigma Bridge (EnigmaLink’s parent company), nor any 3rd parties, including Google, can see the documents without having physical access to the links or QR codes.

The encryption is done locally, on your own device, prior to the browser uploading it to your Google account’s Cloud storage. It relies on up to 3 different “locks” for its security: the link you share, a key protected by Enigma Bridge & optionally a password. Using different control mechanisms & a combination of channels: internet, text/SMS, iMessages, serves to enhance the security of the platform.

The service is currently undergoing a public beta & you can sign up by simply giving it a try on its product page here. Enigma Bridge is a recent startup, founded in 2015 & located in Cambridge, UK. It’s made up of security pros with academic backgrounds in crypto, in security consulting & secure card payments. It’s proprietary patent-pending tech is being used to provide infrastructure support to EnigmaLink.
