Search through your browser with ‘thundertick’

new search engine

‘Thundertick’ is an extension designed to be a search engine for your browser. It allows you to search every part of your browser. Get to find everything ranging from your bookmarks, history, downloads, open tabs & installed apps.

This extension will give you access to various commands which you can execute with just 1 keystroke. With this new search engine, you can sort open tabs, take screenshots or even refresh all tabs. Thundertick makes use of the often assumed backtick button on your keyboard.  To launch the extension, you just tap the backtick button on your keyboard. You can as well launch by clicking the thundertick’s icon on your toolbar.

Initially, you will need to restart your browser after installing the new search engine for it to work. However, with their latest updates, you can start using the extension right away after installation. For the Chrome’s extension, it will enable you to make your Chrome’s omnibar even more powerful. To use it here you just have to type the backtick character followed by tab.

In addition, for the extension to show results you will have to start your query with a prefix in the depending on the Content or title you are searching in the search box. For example, if you want to open tabs you have to start with a prefix ‘t’ while for refresh, you need prefix ‘r’. You can access more of these instructions in thundertick’s cheat sheet via their ‘help’ command.

Thundertick, however, is non-functional for those using non-US layout keyboards. This is because these keyboards lack the backtick button. This free extension, though, is only available for Chrome & Mozilla browsers.

Thundertick was developed by Manak Kapoor & is located in Singapore.
