Tweets that will disappear? No more imagination but a possible reality. Twitter has said it was experimenting with a feature called, “Fleets” in Brazil. Fleets refer to the fleeing nature of disappearing tweets, which will turn to digital dust after 24 hours.

The new feature, which the company is referring to as “Fleets,” is rolling out only to users in Brazil, said Kayvon Bekpour, Twitter product lead. The feature could increase usage and engagement by giving casual users a way to share fleeting thoughts with less pressure and risk of sparking a negative reaction.

Arriving late to the ephemeral content party, Twitter is testing a feature that will turn tweets into digital dust after 24 hours.

Only available in Brazil for the moment, Twitter is calling the disappearing messages “Fleets,” because of their fleeting quality. “We are experimenting with a new way for you to ‘think aloud,’” Twitter Brazil tweeted on Wednesday.

In addition to its short-lived existence, “fleets” cannot be liked or retweeted. Nor can Twitter’s community comment on them.
