Twitter rival “Koo” from India raises $30 mln – News


India’s answer to Twitter, the Bangalore-based Koo, announced on Wednesday it had raised US $30 million in a financing round led by Tiger Global Management. Mirae Asset, IIFL’s venture capital fund & existing investors 3one4 Capital, Blume Ventures, & Accel also participated in this round.

Investors are backing Koo, an Indian alternative to Twitter, with large size checks at a time when tension is brewing between the American social network and New Delhi. The Indian startup said on Wednesday it has raised $30 million in a financing round led by Tiger Global Management. Mirae Asset and IIFL’s venture capital fund and existing investors 3one4 Capital, Blume Ventures, and Accel also participated in the round, which valued the Bangalore-based startup at over $100 million, up from about $25 million in February.
