This startup guides you into reading credible Web Content – #Startups

[sg_popup id=”12″ event=”onload”][/sg_popup]True to its name, ‘CrossCheck’ is a browser extension offering readers the chance to cross check or evaluate the credibility of every piece of Web Content. More than that, CrossCheck claims to present “relevant” Content to readers for even further research & information gathering.

Since whatever is published on the Web is not always true or backed by evidence these days, CrossCheck does the work of checking the credibility for you. It’s really a problem not to be able to trust what you are reading Online. What matters is the presence of reputable sources.

Be it a blog post, a post on Facebook or even a “news” article, there must be some sources supporting the facts. This network of sources adds up to a “score”, which here is called the “CrossCheck score”. According to the score, you know if there is anything similar published elsewhere on the Internet. The lower the score, the fewer the sources that have been traced Online, connected to that piece of Content. Fake news will undoubtedly be backed up by no reputable sources. So readers can read in between the lines & realize what they are up against.

This startup is by a Delaware-US based corporation, having launched in February 2017. Jay Khurana is the founder & CEO of CrossCheck. Having attended Brown University, Jay has tried to keep things simple & interpret everything with the use of numbers. CFO of the company is Troy Middleton, who has studied Mathematical Finance.

The Chrome extension has both – free & premium plans.

Here’s how it works:

  • Ist, CrossCheck scrapes through the articles published Online. This happens every time & covers all the publications.
  • Then, these articles are compared & matched with already credible ones. As a result, there are pairings of articles that act as a sort of a verification process.
  • Finally, each time you visit a Site & read an article, the data that had been collected is made available to you. So the reader is presented with relevant Content & is also shown the CrossCheck score to help him understand the overall credibility of that article.
