‘Stencil’ claims to give a boost to your social engagement

stencilThis service lets you choose from over 670,000 royalty-free public domain stock photos, which it then automatically resizes & optimizes for sharing on social media Sites like Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, even allowing scheduled publication with Buffer.

Stencil might be a good fit if you need to create visual Content to share on social Sites or spice up ads & blog posts on a regular basis. Its ‘Live Social Previews’ lets you take a look at exactly how your post will look on desktop or mobile Sites before you actually share it. 1 of its most interesting features is its Chrome extension which lets you highlight text anywhere on the Web & instantly create a Stencil image with it. You can also right click on an image & load it into Stencil, letting you use the platform on the go.

To its library of 670,000 royalty-free background photos, Stencil adds hundreds more pictures every week. It also comes equipped with 50 templates which can be edited & customized with custom logos & over 200,000 royalty-free icons & graphics from the Noun Project. If you’re unsure about the size to use on your post, Stencil makes it easy by suggesting 1 of its 34+ custom sizes depending on your needs (i.e. on which social media Site or device the post is aiming at, or if it’s meant for a blog or for an ad).

The photos are mainly derived from Stencil’s partners at Pixabat & Pexels & come in super high resolution versions & are under a Creative Commons (CC0) license, which means that they are free to use for personal or commercial use with no attribution required. You can organize your favorite photos by “liking” them.

The platform, which was previously known as ‘Share as Image’, is being developed by the namesake Toronto, Canada-based startup, led by co-founders Adam Rotman & Oliver Nassar. You can start out  signing up for their free version which lets you create 10 images per month & keep up to 10 favorites (with limited backgrounds & icons) or get the “Pro” package, which, for a fee, comes with the full gamut of 670,000+ photos & 2000,000 icons & graphics, 50+ templates, logo watermarks & premium support.
