“See” what’s up at any location with app Visor – New app

The smartphone camera is turning out to be quite a tool. There’s a new mobile phone app called Visor that has decided to put the mobile camera to good use, somewhat on the lines of Twitter’s Periscope or the now-famous Meerkat app.

The New York, US-located Visor allows users to build what can be best described as a “real time” map. Not one of those boring, latitude & longitude ones but a vibrant, community-driven map of the most “happening” places around town, by using images.

What you can do with Visor is to “see” what’s happening at any location around the world. For example: You want to dine out at this fine restaurant tonight but don’t know how much of a crowd is there? Just ask a friend who’s either in the restaurant or around it to click a snap with his smartphone & use Visor to share it with you. Or, if your friend has just spotted a celebrity at a pub, he/she can take a snap & push it to you, & both of you can enjoy the moment.

What’s more, Visor allows users to paste images on a digital map to help other users. Eg: Traffic at Sunrise junction heavy: Paste an image on the map at the exact location. Besides, Visor users can also ask for additional information along with the image. Eg: “Is the line long at X pub?” or, “How many products of X brand are in the aisle for now?”

We would have liked to see ‘live’ streaming, too,  in this app, maybe that’s something that the Visor team could contemplate adding, going into the future. The free app is available for Android as well as iOS.
