“Robotic Tape” turns any Webpage into an API – Startups

APIs

By definition, an API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of functions & procedures allowing for the creation of applications that access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other service on the Internet.

“Robotic Tape” claims that its “Visual Tools” can turn any Website into an API, thus allowing any interested parties to scrape data from any Webpage without resorting to complex coding.

Consider a travel agent who wants to display the latest weather information for various locations on his Site in order to inform clients who need to make arrangements for day trips. Data from local weather reports would be useful in this instance, & a robot is often used to access such information & turn it into a JSON file, which can be read from a 3rd party application. In broad terms, this is the type of application Robotic Tape believes it can offer via its user interface (UI).

Bots are a common & necessary element on the WorldWideWeb. However, data-rich Web applications will all have a file on Site known as “robots.txt” that  clearly informs bots which data(files) are accessible for web scraping & which are off bounds.

Robotic Tape claims that its AI tools can access any Webpage, scrape the data, fill in forms & view information behind login walls. This startup offers various plans. Each is priced according to the amount of data you’d like to access.
