Meta Launches Twitter rival “Threads” – News

Meta has introduced its latest messaging application, Threads, which is positioned as Instagram’s “text-based conversation app.”

Threads allows users to utilize their existing Instagram usernames and follow the same accounts they do on Instagram. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, unveiled Threads with the objective of attracting users who have abandoned Twitter due to its volatile ownership. The app is now accessible for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play in over 100 countries.

Threads boasts a visual aesthetic akin to Twitter, serving as a text-based social messaging app. Users can share brief messages that others can like, share, and comment on. Similar to Twitter, users can also respond to public posts. Recently, Instagram users were given the opportunity to secure invitations to access Threads directly from their Instagram accounts. Although Threads is linked to Instagram and users can employ their existing Instagram usernames, it functions as a distinct app that necessitates separate downloading.

Meta describes Threads as a platform for fostering communities and facilitating discussions on various subjects. Individual feeds of users encompass posts from those they follow, in addition to recommended content from unfamiliar creators. Threads also permits users to share their posts through the app’s story feature and other platforms of their choice. Meta has developed the app with tools that foster constructive and positive conversations, granting users control over who can mention or reply to them within the app.
