Meta has officially joined the arena of AI chatbots, marking its entry with the introduction of its own virtual assistant and a collection of AI personas slated for release on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
For those familiar with OpenAI’s ChatGPT or similar chatbots such as Anthropic’s Claude, Meta’s AI will strike a chord of recognition. Meta envisions this AI as a versatile assistant suitable for tasks ranging from coordinating group trips in chat conversations to providing answers to inquiries you’d typically direct at a search engine. Notably, Meta has forged a partnership with Microsoft’s Bing to deliver real-time web results, setting its AI apart from many other freely available AIs that lack access to the most current information.
Another significant facet of Meta’s AI is its capability to generate images using commands like “imagine.” In a brief demonstration, it swiftly produced captivating high-resolution images. Importantly, all of Meta’s AI features announced this week, including image generation, are offered to users completely free of charge.
