A playlist is a list or collection of audio or videos in a media player. While most people simply watch individual videos on YouTube, it is possible to curate a collection of favorite videos that will play continuously on YouTube. You can also make your playlist visible to others or set it to private for personal use only.
Although the interface for mobile app & YouTube Web varies slightly, the process of creating a playlist on any of them is pretty much the same with just minor differences. You can create a playlist directly from a video of your choice or initiate the process from the library tab of your YouTube app or Web interface.
To create a playlist of YouTube videos follow the steps below:
Find the video you intend to add to your playlist. Tap “Save” below the video. A message will pop up asking you to confirm which playlist you want the video to be added to. The default options are the “Watch Later” or “Last played” playlist. However, you can also select the “create new” option to create a new playlist entirely. You will be prompted to give your playlist a name & complete the process.
To create a playlist from your library tab, navigate to the library tab, tap the new playlist button in the playlist section. You can select videos you want to add to your playlist from your most recent watch history. Tap next & you will be prompted to give your playlist a name. You can also adjust the playlist setting to make it public or private. Click create to complete the process.
You can also remove a playlist from your YouTube entirely. To do this, go to your library then tap on the playlist you wish to delete. Tap on “More” & select “Delete” from the list of options. The URL for the deleted playlist & its title will no longer be searchable or visible on Your YouTube analytics once deleted.
You can also collaborate with your friends on your playlist by allowing them to add videos to your list. To do this, go to your playlist page on a computer by clicking your profile picture on the top right corner & navigating to “creator studio”, then Video Manager > Playlists. Click “Edit” on the playlist you wish to collaborate on then click “Share”. Check the box that says “Allow people with the link to add videos”. you can then copy the unique link generated for the playlist & share it with your friends. They will be able to add their videos to the playlist in the link.
