It’s been 10 years since Google launched its Google bugs bounty program, & to mark this occasion, it has launched a new edition of the program called bughunters.google.com.
This new site brings all of the Vulnerability Rewards Program (VRPs) (Google, Android, Abuse, Chrome & Play) closer together & provides a single intake form that makes it easier for bug hunters to submit issues.
Other features of the Google bugs bounty program include:
- More opportunities for interaction & a competition through gamification, per-country leaderboards, awards/badges for certain bugs
- A more functional & aesthetically pleasing leaderboard.
- A stronger emphasis on learning: Bug hunters can improve their skills through the Content available in the new Bug Hunter University
The old Vulnerability Rewards Program accomplished the following over the past 10 years:
- Total bugs rewarded: 11,055
- Number of rewarded researchers: 2,022
- Representing 84 different countries
- Total rewards: $29,357,516
