GitHub launches GitHub Sponsors for companies – Quick wrap


GitHub has launched “GitHub Sponsors” for companies, enabling organizations to invest in the open source developers & projects that they depend on via their existing billing arrangements.

GitHub announced that from today, investing in open source is as easy as just adding it to your GitHub bill. Sponsors supports payment via credit card or PayPal, & developers can join the waitlist to get updates about other payment options coming soon.

Last year, GitHub Sponsors was launched for individuals to allow them to support the open source developers they depend on. Already, millions of dollars have come in under it to open source maintainers & projects. Some developers were already making six figures using GitHub Sponsors. Now, the program has been opened up for companies, added GitHub.
