Facebook announces ‘Soundmojis” in Messenger on Emoji Day – Digital lifestyle

Facebook has launched Soundmojis, Messenger’s latest feature. Which means, your chats just got a whole lot “louder”.

Soundmojis let you send short sound clips in a Messenger chat. From clapping 👏, crickets 🦗, drumroll 🥁& evil laughter 👻, to audio clips from artists, & TV shows & movies, the library has everything.

Facebook said on its official blog that to check out Soundmojis, users may start a chat in Messenger, then tap the smiley face & click on the loudspeaker icon. From there, there can preview & then send whatever they like, time & again.

We’re launching an entire Soundmoji library for you to choose from, which we’ll update regularly with new sound effects & famous sound bites. Each sound is represented by an emoji, keeping the visual emojis we all love in play, while bringing sound into the mix.

According to Wikipedia, World Emoji Day is an “unofficial holiday” on July 17 every year to celebrate emojis. World Emoji Day is “the brainchild of Jeremy Burge”, according to CNBC which stated that the “London-based founder of Emojipedia created it” in 2014.

Many other companies are using this day to annnounce their own thing. Since 2017, Apple has used each World Emoji Day to announce upcoming expansions to the range of emojis on iOS.

On World Emoji Day 2015, Pepsi launched PepsiMoji which included an emoji keyboard & custom World Emoji Day Pepsi cans and bottles. These were initially released in Canada & later in 100 markets around the globe in 2016.
