YouTube is today the 2nd largest search engine in the world. It’s estimated that cumulatively, people spend over 1 billion hours watching videos on the platform every day. But seasoned YouTube users know that it is more than just a tool to watch & create video Content. YouTube has features that allow you to comment on videos, share videos you like & even has a chat function that enables you to have conversations with other users on YouTube. Today we are gonna talk of how to delete YouTube chat.
Like every other app with a chat capability, it is only normal that YouTube comes with a feature that allows you to delete your chats if you want them cleared. The process of deleting your chat is pretty simple but varies slightly between when you are accessing YouTube from your computer to when you are using your mobile device.
How To Delete YouTube Chat From your Computer
Deleting your chats on YouTube from a computer is very simple & straightforward.
Step 1: The 1st step is to click on the “Messages” icon. You should find it on the top right corner of your computer screen.
Step 2: Open the conversation you wish to delete
Step 3: In the top right corner of the page, click on the “Menu” icon represented by 3 dots
Step 4: From the page displayed, select “Delete” from the list of options provided.
How To Delete Your Chat From YouTube For Android & iOS Devices:
The process of deleting your chat is the same whether you are using an Android device or an Apple iPhone or iPad.
Step 1: Go to your Inbox tab by clicking on the envelope icon on your screen
Step 2: Tap “Messages” & select the conversation you wish to delete
Step 3: Tap the 3 dots to open the chat menu
Step 4: You will be provided with a list of options to either leave the chat, mute notifications or delete the chat. Click on “Delete Chat” to clear the chat for all the participants. You will receive a confirmation notification tap “Delete” to proceed to permanently delete the chat.
Note that the “Leave Chat” button will leave your existing posts in the chat, but you will not be able to join the chat again except on invitation. You can also choose to mute notifications instead. This way you stop receiving notifications when you are sent new messages, but you will remain in the chat. Also, note that deleting a YouTube chat is not reversible, so you must be sure you want to delete the chat permanently before you proceed to do so.
