Slack is an immersive platform that can help teams share & discover experiences & Content. Slack team members can now use Patch to “discover, share, follow, & listen to podcasts right in Slack.” This bot aims to make it easier & more accessible & intuitive to listen to audio Content.

The product was recently released in beta & lets you manage your podcast listening experience from within Slack. You can do things like search for any podcast with a click or a simple command like: find “podcast name”, follow a podcast & access it later, see what your team is following, what shows are popular on your team…

Patch is a Canadian startup co-founded by Miles DePaul who is Managing Director at the Brothers DePaul technology & Content studio. The company is focused on providing services related to audio Content in the workspace. The Patch Slack app is part of an overall platform designed to “create, distribute, & track internal audio Content.”

According to Patch, the growth of on-demand audio has doubled in popularity in the last 5 years, with 67 million Americans listening to podcasts every month. It claims that because of this, it’s now more important than ever for companies to go beyond text-based channels to engage with their employees.

The aim is to go on to perform integrations with other communications tools commonly used by companies, Slack being their 1st one. With this they’ll bring audio to where employees are already working & make distribution & engagement easy. Currently planned integrations are with: Yammer, Facebook Messenger, Alexa & Yammer.

The Patch platform will let you host all your audio Content, letting you sort it based on teams & categories, easily distributing it through existing communications tools. You’ll also be able to track engagement & retention with analytics & surveys.

You can sign up to participate in the beta test program from the product page & you’ll also be updated on the progress being made on other integrations.
