‘Live’ videos just went highly interactive with ‘Hype’ – New app

live video streamingAfter Vine was shut down by Twitter, 2 of its founders are already back with a bang with ‘Hype’. This is an app that allows you to broadcast ‘live’ interactive videos to the world.

The developers claim that they had been working on the new app for almost a year now. The hype is real given that they already have the backing of Jeremy Liew of Lightspeed Ventures, Snapchat’s 1st investor.

In addition, they claim that this app will bring the same caliber of video editing tools used by TV stations to mobile videos. Another key feature is that it gives you the ability to share a variety of multimedia Content in a ‘live’ broadcast. If you are using Hype, you can include cameras or videos from your mobile camera roll, hence, giving you the ability to blend stuff you recorded earlier with your ‘live’ content.

The app differs from other streaming apps in that it offers creative editing tools. With Hype, you can show GIFs, Web pages, play background music as well as feature viewer comments onscreen. In addition, you can bring in other users for dual broadcast.

If you are a broadcaster, the app allows your viewers to interact directly with you through comments. Hype has also integrated visual elements which viewers can use to show general approval. Just like Periscope’s ‘Hearts’, this app has colored stars called ‘Sparkles’. Hence, for ‘live’ broadcasts it keeps a running tally of Sparkles & number of viewers. You can as well customize the background of your broadcast using videos.

In addition, Hype supports a show & tell format. Hence, you can start a ‘live’ broadcast to comment on another previous video event. Also, when your broadcast is over, the app supports a replay function.

According to its founders, Colin Kroll & Rus Yusupov, Hype’s beta users are already using it to host daily news & review video games.

Currently, the free app is only available for iOS users with an Android version following soon. It’s App Store launch was on Oct 31, 2016.  The startup’s HQs is in New York, USA
