Zoom’s T&C Changes for AI – News

Zoom has recently made changes to its terms of service, indicating a desire to enhance its artificial intelligence(AI) models using certain portions of your data.

In the most recent revision of the platform’s terms of service, there is a notable emphasis on sections related to software licensing, beta services, and compliance. However, upon delving further into the details, one can discern a significant strategic move in Zoom’s AI approach. This update, effective as of July 27, 2023, grants Zoom the right to leverage specific components of customer data to refine and optimize its AI and machine learning models.

The scope of “service-generated data” that Zoom is now authorized to employ for AI training encompasses customer details pertaining to product usage, telemetry, diagnostic information, and analogous content or data amassed by the company. But Zoom does say that “..we will not use customer content, including education records or protected health information, to train our artificial intelligence models without your consent.”
