Zoom enhances platform with Zoom Apps – Digital lifestyle

Zoom has announced the release of Zoom Apps, an in-product integration that will now allow you to introduce 3rd party apps straight in your Zoom calls.

What Are Zoom Apps?

They combine your favorite apps with video communications by allowing you to access them directly in your Zoom Meetings. These can cover many use cases like whiteboarding, project management, note-taking, etc.

“… are a critical component in Zoom’s transition from an app to a platform by enabling seamless integration of third-party applications within Zoom,” said Zeus Kerravala, Principal Analyst of ZK Research, on the company blog. “The apps provide users with access to their favorite entertainment, productivity, wellness, & lifestyle applications while maintaining the meeting experience.”

These apps will help users get more done together, especially in the work from home environment that most of the world finds itself in today.

With these 3rd party apps, you can streamline workflows, collaborate with colleagues, & also introduce some fun element into your interactions. They give you plenty of screen space to collaborate with the ability to expand, & collapse the apps side panel, open your app in a new window, & switch between multiple apps at once.

Getting Started:

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of Zoom
  2. Open Zoom, click the Apps tab in the desktop client or in the toolbar of your next Meeting. For some accounts, users may need admins to enable the Apps icon in the account settings for it to be visible in the desktop client and meeting toolbar
  3. Click Discover to see the list of available Apps, & add your favorites

You can also go to the Zoom Marketplace, navigate to the Apps category, & add the apps of your choice. Once added, you can find your added apps under the Apps icon in the, “My Apps” tab.
