YouTube “Checks” to examine copyright issues before video is uploaded – News

YouTube has rolled out a feature that will stop videos with potential copyright issues to be uploaded. It announced today from its official blog that the process on Studio desktop called “Checks” would automatically screen uploads for potential copyright claims & ad suitability restrictions. This new step will help creators minimize the number of videos uploaded with copyright claims.

How YouTube Checks work in the Studio Upload flow: During the upload flow on desktop, creators can see the option to review their video in the new “checks” step for potential copyright claims & ad-suitability issues before the video is published. You can learn more about this new step in this Help Center article
How long do the checks take? The copyright checks usually finish within 3 minutes, while monetization checks can take a couple of minutes longer.
Does this mean there will be no more videos as unlisted or private to check for monetization/copyright claims? Yes. Creators no longer have to publish a video as unlisted or private – once the checks have completed. However, it’s still possible for a video to receive restrictions after it’s published.
