Whats App introduced more security features – Digital lifestyle

WhatsApp has introduced a cryptographic security feature that automatically verifies secured connections through key transparency.

This feature, says Meta, owner of WhatsApp, enhances security in conversations without any additional steps required from users. Key transparency solutions, such as the Auditable Key Directory (AKD), contribute to the reliability of end-to-end encryption & enable transparent auditing for all users. AKD, which is now available as an open-source library, allows anyone to verify the directory’s audit proofs.

In an effort to safeguard users against SIM jacking & social engineering attacks, WhatsApp has initiated a handful of such measures like the above today to enhance its security measures. One notable improvement is the implementation of a new feature that requires users to confirm their account transfer when downloading the app on a new device. The confirmation process involves using the old device to confirm the transfer, providing an added layer of protection against potential compromise.
