Want to know if your email address has been compromised? – e-Why, What & How

Perhaps one of the biggest challenges in using the Internet these days is the issue of data breaches. Hackers attack various Online platforms every time & get a hold of personal information. This can expose you to various threats. The worst part is that most victims of data breaches are unaware of it. This is what Firefox hopes to solve with the newly introduced Firefox Monitor.

Firefox Monitor is a tool that allows you to search & discover if your email account has been part of any data breach anywhere. Firefox Monitor also notifies users when a data breach involving their email address occurs so that that can take necessary actions to prevent attacks.

To use Firefox monitor to check if your email address has been compromised, visit https://monitor.firefox.com/. You will be prompted to type in your email address. Firefox Monitor will check your email against a database of recent data breaches & will let you know if your email has been exposed or not. Firefox monitor will also let you know which specific platform the data breach occurred, when it happened & which specific personal data was exposed. You will also get some tips on what you do to minimize risk & avoid subsequent attacks.

Additionally, FireFox Monitor can also help you learn about future data breaches. To do this, you need to sign up for Firefox Monitor using your email. Once you create an account, you will be notified of any new data breaches that occur & you will get to know if your email address was involved in the attack or not. You can sign up multiple emails for checks on a single Monitor account or even carry out an advanced search when a new sensitive breach occurs.

The service is entirely free & Firefox assures that user information on Monitor is 100% safe. The service uses an anonymized search query which protects the data you submit from re-identification while preserving its utility. Firefox Monitor is part of Firefox’s recently announced roadmap to anti-tracking project. The company promises more similar products & features in the coming months all aimed at protecting Online users against various forms of threats they are exposed to daily.
