Throw a virtual party with SpatialChat – Startups

Right now a lot of people around the world are missing their friends & family. Social distancing isn’t just a “thing”, it’s a necessity.

Covid-19 has changed everything, real parties & get-togethers are banned, nobody thinks it’s a good idea to congregate in any physical space. So what do you do if it’s your girlfriend or nephew’s birthday & you know that they’re lonely, housebound & sad…throw a virtual party, that’s what you can do. It can be fun & far more sophisticated than you’d imagine, thanks to apps like SpatialChat.

SpatialChat offers users a free, Online, in-browser opportunity to hold a virtual party for up to 50 people. Revelers can interact & chat as a group as if they were in the same room. It’s a really festive idea in these times, & provides people with a means to connect that’s coronavirus-acceptable.

SpatialChat is part of the Spatial app, an AR (augmented reality) & mixed reality) app that has more than a few unique features. Spatial facilitates the collaboration of team members from remote locations to work, chat, brainstorm & now party, as if they were “really” together. The app has previously used Microsoft’s Hololens to enable its 3D virtual experience, but has now also embraced the MagicLeap headset to enhance the user’s panoramic view.

Spatial uses a 2D image to create an avatar of the user, which can move, interact & demonstrate within a shared environment from a remote location. It facilities Online search, 3D imaging, sticky note taking & pinning, as well as “live” chat. It brings users together into a single shared environment as holograms of themselves, which look & react as if they were solid beings(from the torso up anyway).

There’s much to be said for a virtual party if interactions are realistic, & that’s just the type of experience SpatialChat is staged to offer.
