Telegram’s 2 new Web apps: Can be confusing – News

Cloud-based instant messaging service Telegram has launched not 1 but 2 Web applications called Telegram “WebZ” & “WebK”. This may be good news for lovers of the Web version of the app because some design features, etc have been added but both Web apps frankly seem almost the same.

Prior to this, the Telegram Web app remained pretty much the same due to lack of frequent updates. The old version of Telegram Web app lacked a lot of features including making video calls. It also lacked some very basic features like sending stickers. All of these lapses have been accounted for in the newly launched Telegram WebK & WebZ application. Both applications still can’t make voice calls, a feature its competing app Whatsapp, had recently introduced to its own Web application. The voice call feature is highly important and is eagerly anticipated in the next update.

The 2 Web applications work pretty much the same way & only exist at the same time to stir up internal competition between developers, as Telegram itself has acknowledged. Weird. This being said, it is important to note that slight differences exist between the apps especially in their interface. For example, their search bars have different colors. White in WebK & grey in WebZ. Also, you can mute calls in the WebK version of the app but cannot do so in the WebZ version because there is no mute button.

We feel the 2 versions could easily have been clubbed together, but anyway, Telegram believes in internal competition.” Access to the download link of these apps can be gotten from Telegram’s official Website.
