Swisscows promotes anonymous search, & promises to protect user privacy – Profile

Searching the Internet is a daily necessity for most people. Generally, Google is the search engine of choice, & most users are unaware that alternatives even exist. However, there are several engines available, but most offer little improvement over the Google model. Swisscows, however, positions itself as ‘the safe alternative to Google.

Why safe? Well, Swisscows promises that it does not monitor users’ search results, in fact, it does not even store any user data. This search model, says the team, ensures privacy protection for their users. Although this engine might be new to some, Swisscows has been around for 20 years. CEO Andreas Wiebe specializes in intelligent search & information analysis programs in unstructured data systems, & is also founder of Hulbee AG, a technology company focused on intelligent search.

After entering your search term, the engine presents a color coded ‘map’ of options so that you can refine & filter the information, based on what you’re actually looking for.

For instance if you search for mouse, a set of options are thrown up, so that you can choose between searching for a real rat or the computer hardware. Once you’ve made your selection, the engine changes the ‘map’ so that you can further enhance your target information. This method, Swisscows, suggests, offers a better result set than that of any other search engine, & is based on their patented “Intelligent Search” software.

Additionally, the engine protects users from violence & pornography, by eliminating suspect Sites from their result set. Also, it believes it is resistant to outside attack from hackers or terrorist because its underground data center, based in the Swiss Alps, is the most secure in the world. It owns the servers, rather than using 3rd party servers, which further enhances the user protection factor.

The search engine is currently the 5th largest in the world, & Swisscows is determined to make it the biggest. It relies on advertising & licensing the software to 3rd parties to finance operations. However, it does not provide users’ data to advertising partners nor sell personal data. So if you’d like to remain anonymous on the Net, give Swisscows a try.
