SpaceX launches “Starlink Roam” – News

“Starlink RV” has been rebranded as “Starlink Roam”, & is only available in either a regional access flavor for US $150 per month or for global use anywhere the service is available for US $200 per month.

As with the RV package, users can choose either a portable antenna for $599 or one intended for in-motion use for $2,500, according to this report in The Verge. Previously, you could only travel with Starlink’s satellite dish (nicknamed Dishy) within the same continent.

Starlink Roam is a service that allows users to connect to the company’s satellite Internet on the go. It is ideal for customers traveling to locations where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable. Starlink Roam provides the ability to pause & un-pause service at any time, & is billed in one-month increments, allowing users to customize their service to their individual travel needs.

SpaceX’s Starlink is a low latency, broadband Internet system that is being developed to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable Internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities & places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable.

Starlink is currently delivering 50Mbps to 200Mbps in download speeds and about 30Mbps in upload speeds, according to users.
