Social media giant Snap announced it was laying off 20% of its workforce in August. The company said it was also shutting down Zenly, a French social messaging app it acquired in 2017. Staff were shocked and left “angry” and “confused” at the move, employees told Insider. On Wednesday, staffers at French social location messaging app Zenly gathered in its Parisian office and were told they no longer had jobs and that the product they had spent years building was to be shut down.
