Online marketing is crucial for any business. 1 part of this is sending out newsletters to your members/followers. ‘Buttondown’ is a startup that helps you in writing & sending newsletters.

Using Buttondown, you can easily copy & paste your Markdown or even HTML text & send it multiple times. The tool saves you the need to manually convert your Markdown text into readable text, or even the need to check links in your newsletter. Buttondown also automatically proofs your mail ensuring that there are no typos or broken links.

The tool also provides you with an embeddable widget as well as REST end point for your subscription page. Buttondown lets you use your favorite word processor while it handles all the other annoying stuff for you hence helping you concentrate entirely on writing your newsletter. It also allows drag & drop image uploading.

Once you’ve written your newsletter, Buttondown automatically publishes it to an RSS/ATOM feed for you. In addition, your sent newsletters are ‘viewable’ on the Web for as long as you wish. The tool provides you with a simple subscription page while also providing you with basic email analytics such opens, clicks & unsubscribes.

To save you from sending your mail manually, the tool allows you to schedule your posts. Therefore, you can send them in a bunch at once. Buttondown also allows you to easily export your data to CSV or JSON. With this, the developers assert that you own your data. In addition, they claim that they never sell your data or use it for advertising.

Once you register (for free) to use this tool, Buttondown’s free for the first 1000 subscribers. The tool has been developed by Justin Duke, who works out of Kirkland, USA.
