Sell digital downloads with ‘Zipsell’ – #Startups

digital downloads

The facility to sell digital products, like music (mp3), ebooks or videos(mp4, .mov &so on) online might be something an author or band would like to add to their Website(via an Amazon Web Server). Selling digital downloads has been attempted in the past, too. However, this functionality, as a single ‘stand-alone’ tool is difficult to acquire &install on Site. Zipsell has an answer to this dilemma – they’ve a kit which can be added to a server, & functions to list digital products for sale.

Zipsell, built with Ruby, allows users to list unlimited digital products for sale. The App is integrated with the Stripe Payment Gateway, so getting paid won’t be a problem in any country offering it for your digital download.

Products are added to Zipsell’s back-end. Each product listing offers options to set a title, description (long &short), price, currency type, image of the item & the file intended for download after the sale is complete.

Once listings have been added, users can begin collecting on sales. Zipsell has a fully fledged sales reporting system, which offers graphs so sales activity can be visually accessed at a glance. The install is Open Source & free to download from Zipsell’s Website.

An important aspect of selling anything Online is the ability to customize the front-end of any software to suit your Website or brand. Zipsell offers this feature. Additionally, the system has a ‘powerhouse’ security layer built-in to offer protection for users & customers.

Jon Yongfook, the startup’s founder, plans to offer documentation & a business option for the App in the near future. The business plan will allow users to create a digital downloads platform for multiple sellers, all of whom could be designed to pay commission to the owner for any sales.

The App’s founder is based in Singapore & has a unique dream to launch a different startup every month this year.
