‘Screenie’ enhances your Mac’s screen captures

Apple’s Mac OSX image management can be quite limited when you’re trying to juggle multiple screen captures & using them as input to programs & utilities on your Mac desktop.  Screenie steps in to help you manage screenshots with a plethora of interesting features.

Screenie is touted as ‘the image manager that Apple forgot’, & this claim seems to be backed up by a number of interesting features.  For 1, the app lets you drag screenshots from the icon in your menubar & from the very same menubar you can access any of your images. Once your screenshots are saved, you can actually change where they’re being saved.

Other interesting features of the app are: the ability to change the screenshot file type to PSD, JPG & a bunch more type & you can filter & search through your images. Screenie actually makes your Mac screen time more productive by introducing new workflow possibilities, letting you access your images from any folder & viewing detailed info about those images. The app should make tinkerers happy as it is highly customizable.

The company behind Screenie, thnkdev, bucks the trend of making apps available on Apple’s Mac App Store, by making it available only directly through a link in their own website, for a price of US $9.99. The app is based on thnkdev’s QuickShot, which used to be available on the App Store, but is no longer there. They’ve pulled all their apps from the App Store because of what they claim as Apple’s inefficient review process, which precludes the company from making as many feature additions as necessary & with the frequency they feel they should be made.

Thnkdev is a startup based in San Diego, California, USA, & is its cofounders are Noah & Josh, a UC San Diego student & a recent grad, respectively.
