Roundme photography app: Create & share virtual reality tours – New app

This article was 1st published on our sister Site, Digital World Native.

RoundmeRoundme is a photography app which allows you to create 360-degree panorama images & showcase/view/share them as virtual tours. It’s like being physically in a certain place like a museum, for example, only this app allows you to take a virtual tour.

All you have to do with this free photography app, available for the Web & iOS, is to tap the create space button, upload your panoramic images & fill in the required fields. To create what the Roundme team calls a ‘Space’ & share it so that others can take virtual tours of this space, too, you can link multiple panoramic images together using ‘portals.’ Linked together multiple panoramas lets the app combine them into a ‘Space’ that people will find an immersive virtual experience.

You can even add informational blocks to the ‘Space’. These informational hotspots can contain Content of any kind – text, links & even multimedia – all to makes the experience interactive so that users can learn about the story behind the panaromas & decide what to do next.

You can upload full spherical or cylindrical panaromas with a 360-degree view. You can even upload wide angle views with more than 180 degrees. But it works best, as in offering an immersive experience, when you upload 360 panaromas.

Speaking of immesive exeriences, Roundme has updated their iOS app so that you may use the app on your iPhone with Google Cardboard & effectively turn the whole thing into a VR headset.

Open any space on Roundme using the VR button & place your iPhone into the Google Cardboard headset. You will then have a true immersive virtual reality experience. You can simply turn your head to see the rest of the space in any direction you want.

The app can be used for multiple purposes – for hobbies, for professions such as guided tours, & some such.

The Roundme photography app was developed by Palo Alto, California-based Verdom IT Projects. Roundme was founded last year by CEO Konstantin Andreev. The startup has raised US $3 million in seed funding in a Feb 2015 funding round led by April Capital.
