‘ProtoPie’ allows designers to showcase logic driven apps in minutes – #Startups

Building applications for the Web or mobile is a 2 factor process, namely the UI(User Interface) & the logic. The front end of a project comprises all design elements, which the user sees & uses to interact with the application, while the back end consists of creating logic chains which perform various functions based on these interactions.

For designers, responsible for creating the layout of an app, it’s often difficult for them to communicate the response they visualize happening for certain objects in their designs. Therefore, although they can set up visuals for their layout, they need the skills of back end developers to turn their concepts into working pages.

Now, in most cases, creators are working for 3rd parties, that is they are building for clients & generally, these clients want to see more than 1 instance of a concept. Since multiple designs are often required so that clients can choose between various scenarios, & each concept must be “mocked up” to satisfy, this process can become costly because designers would need to involve backend coders to assist in creating some functionality for each design, else the client might fail to understand what they’re being shown.

As a result of this complex process, there is a need for a tool which designers could employ to create mock ups that work out-of-the-box, without requiring back end code, to show clients or even the back end developers what they visualize happening when users interact with the objects on a page. With this in mind ProtoPie, has developed an application to assist designers in creating prototypes of their designs, which actually work as if they’ve been coded to include logic.

ProtoPie categorizes the elements required for layouts into 3 linked types, namely, object, trigger & response. The team has created tools, which allow designers to effectively build pages which clearly demonstrate how the final application will look and exactly how it will work when users interact with it.

Whether it’s scrolling, paging, menu sliders, user input, or any functionality usually seen in apps, ProtoPie has the effects available, & each effect can be defined by interactive buttons, or other trigger mechanisms. So, with ProtoPie, designers can mock-up designs with the usual color, font, layout options, & add all the functionality they visualize, quickly & easily.

ProtoPie is available for Mac & Windows, & has mobile applications for Android & Apple.
