Popular browsers for Fedora OS – e-Why, What & How

The Fedora OS, otherwise known as the Fedora Linux, is a community-developed minimal operating system used mainly for running containerized workloads. The Linux based OS operates on a GUI (graphical user interface) & it is a viable alternative to Windows, Mac, & other Operating Systems.

Fedora comes with several installed software, including Firefox as its default browser. However, for users who aren’t particularly fans of the Firefox Browser, or who would prefer other browsers for other reasons, there are many others that are just as stable & compatible with Fedora.

Here are some of the most popular browsers for Fedora OS.

Firefox

The Fedora OS comes with Firefox as the default, so it’s no surprise that the browser is among the most popular among Fedora users. Most users are fine with the pre-installed version.

Chrome

Google Chrome is one of the most popular Web browsers for both mobile & PC users. Most Fedora users opt for Chrome instead of the pre-installed Firefox because it not only fast but also quite stable on all operating systems. Chrome offers several inbuilt features, impressive customization options, tabbed browsing, speed dials & so on. You can also install external plugins from the Webstore.

Chromium

Chromium is the open-source browser from which Google Chrome was forked. Google maintains both as separate browsers, & some users still prefer the less polished Chromium to Chrome & other browsers on Fedora mainly because it is lightweight & very fast. Chromium is available in alternative repositories & it is quite easy to install. However, it lacks a flash player & other closed source features that chrome offers.

Opera

Opera is well known for being extremely reliable with some pretty cool features too. This one boasts of above-average security & also offers impressive data-saving capabilities as well. There are several personalization options & it offers cross-platform syncing. Although you get less extension compared to Chrome & Firefox it is still one of the most compatible browsers with Fedora.

Midori

This open-source browser is one of the most popular among Fedora users. It is free to download, & offers several basic features & some customization options. Although it lacks the speed & power of the more popular Google Chrome & Firefox, Midori has a decent & simple user interface & works pretty well on Fedora & other platforms.

In conclusion

In addition to these, several other browsers work seamlessly on Fedora as well. However, these are the most popular browsers for Fedora OS in 2019.
