Podo camera: Sticks on any surface & allows you to even take snaps remotely

Podo is a stick & shoot camera that you can stick to any surface & then have it take a picture remotely by using an app on your smartphone.

It’s obviously one more new way to take hands-free selfies & group shots using a remote shutter & Bluetooth-enabled camera. You can just stick it to a wall, get in front, open up the app on your phone, preview the shot on your phone’s screen & tap the shutter, or drag & release to start a timer. The images instantly get transferred from the camera to your phone’s gallery within seconds, & you can then edit or share them as per your wishes. You can actually do this from within the Podo app. You can add a caption & upload the picture directly to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, & Tumblr.

All you have to do is buy the Podo camera (more on this below) & download the free Podo app (available for both iOS & Android).

But the stick & shoot feature has more serious applications in the world of photography. If this takes off, tripod makers will be in serious danger of becoming obsolete since you can just stick a camera anywhere & keep it perfectly still while you take pictures remotely.

You can stick it to walls, windows, poles or any solid surface using the re-washable, re-stickable pad & magnet. As for the camera itself, it takes 8 MP photos & 720pixel 30fps video.

The Podo crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter is already a big hit, with more than a quarter million dollars raised from 2,245 backers with over a month still to go. Their goal was only US $50,000.

The camera will be available in 2 colors – blue & red. The early bird price of $79 is already sold out. You can still buy it as of date with a pledge of $89 on Kickstarter.

The Podo stick & shoot camera was developed by the Santa Clara, CA-based Podo Labs, founded in 2013 by Sam Pullman, Edmond Lee & Jae Hoon Choi. Edmond is the company’s President while Choi is the CEO & Pullman the CTO. Podo Labs has raised US $1million in seed funding.
