No-code app builder “Bubble” raises $100 mln in funding – News

It gives us immense satisfaction when startups we profiled quite early on stay the course & then go on to become great hits.

Bubble.io is one of them. This Website featured this startup in 2015.

Bubble is an app development platform that lets you build your startup without needing any coding experience or expertise in developing Web or mobile apps.

It’s a visual framework that lets you build your applications simply by pointing & clicking. You don’t have to know about back-end technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Python / Django, & PHP, & you won’t have to play around with front-end coding in HTML, CSS or Javascript.

Now the positive news: Bubble has just got US $100 million funding round led by Insight Partners. Betaworks, as well as notable angels including the founders of Hootsuite, Peloton, & Datadog, also joined the round, with increased participation from its existing investors including Signalfire & Neo.

Announcing the news on its blog, the 2 cofounders said: We’ve given over a million users the tools to create whatever they want: “I can’t do this, I’m not a programmer” is no longer in our users’ lexicon. Bubble is the tech stack for real businesses: Bubble-built companies have raised their own funding rounds & processed tens of millions of dollars in revenue.

The team says it would consider its task done when:

  • 95% of software is written by people without formal educational backgrounds in engineering
  • Every company that needs to be is a tech company, not just ones founded by programmers
