Move over Slack, here comes Space – Startups

team platform

“Space” is a virtual integrated team environment designed to make team project management seamless for developers from Jetbrains, the company behind Kotlin.

This aptly named new tool provides a toolset for developers, which includes unified single platform messaging, internal blogs, meeting scheduling, team management, among other features.

With Space, all the resources members on a team need to work on a project are available on a single platform, & every member you add is automatically granted access. This includes all development tools, including original source codes & their review, automation, repositories, & project documentation.

This team platform also supports communication through chats & offers full identity support. There is a full chat environment where every team member gets messages as well as real-time notification of all events that occur on the project & can react in real-time or add events to their to-do list.

The main idea of Space is to provide a fully automated workflow for development projects. New employees can be quickly on-boarded, new projects can be initiated without having to contact IT teams, & users can schedule meetings, tasks, start a new project or review their projects in a friendly but powerful digital environment.

Space integrates quite easily with external tools. You can customize the platform & extend its functionality to meet the specific needs of your company using Webhooks, HTTP API, Client SDK, & full-blown plugins.

The desktop app runs on Windows, Linux, or macOS, & there is a mobile app as well, which makes it possible to work from anywhere. Space will be available on the cloud & on-premises, although only the cloud version is currently available.

Space is already available, & early access users can sign up for a free plan or join the premium plan. Although Space seems to be coming to an already saturated digital collaborative niche that already has big names like Slack, Asana, GitHub, among others, time will tell if this new tool will be able to hold its own.
