Mobile app ‘Tilt’ that crowdfunds by letting friends pool money is going global

tilt

This app for iOS & Android as well as the desktop lets a group of people pool money for putting together a party, a weekend trip, a benefit fundraiser, or just about anything you can think of, for free. They do, however, charge a minor fee if you want to sell a product. It’s now making a global roll out for its US-only service & has already launched in Canada, Australia & the UK, with other countries slated to come on-board soon.

The San Francisco, US-based startup has concentrated in making it easy for people to pool together resources to run small events. It has had a lot of success among college students & their demographic has successfully demanded that they also take on direct payments between users, which means that they’re now directly competing with PayPal-owned Venmo. Tilt’s new global outreach puts them ahead of the competition, since Venmo is only available in the US.

Once you’ve installed Tilt on your mobile device, or access it through your browser, you can get started collecting money pretty quick from your group. You 1st set a minimum of money (or things) that you need to make something happen with the certainty that nobody will get charged until you reach it.

Word about the fundraising efforts gets spread via the app’s built-in sharing tools that will automatically remind your friends to chip-in, so you don’t need to do it yourself. Secure payments can be done easily using a credit or debit card & you can keep track of who has paid, & have the app send reminders.

Once you’ve reached your goal (minimum amount), funds are immediately available for your withdrawal, or you can extend your fundraising efforts for an indefinite time period.
