Microsoft’s Translator app translates your text or speech in 50 languages

microsofttranslator

Microsoft has launched Translator, a smartphone app that translates your text or speech into 50 languages. In addition to your mobile devices, Translator also works with Apple Watch & Android Wear gear.

Here’s how it works:

  • Point the camera at a restaurant menu or street sign to translate it immediately.
  • Download language packs to translate when not connected to the internet.
  • Speak directly into the phone to get a translation without typing.
  • Hear the translated words in a native speaker’s accent– no need for awkward pronunciation.
  • Get quick access to your preferences by pinning them to your home screen.

Already, for Website owners, it is available as a widget that allows them to bring real time, in-place translation to the Website. Built on the Microsoft Translator API, the free Widget is a highly customizable & powerful translation tool you can place on your Webpage, instantly making the page available in any of the supported languages. You enable the Widget by pasting a predefined snippet of JavaScript code into your page.

You don’t have to write new code to leverage the Widget. By pasting a small snippet of JavaScript into your page, you will be able to display the Widget to your audience. The Widget can be used on multiple platforms; it works on any Site supporting JavaScript, including SharePoint sites (e.g., team sites, wikis, etc.).

The smartphone app is available for Android, iOS as well as Windows.
