Microsoft fixes Spooler PrintNightmare vulnerability – News


Microsoft has fixed the Print Spooler vulnerability known as PrintNightmare, after a researcher accidentally disclosed the vulnerability. Microsoft issuing an emergency fix on Aug. 10, 2021. Following the update, the operating system will require people to have administrative privileges to install printer drivers with the Point and Print feature.

Microsoft has fixed the PrintNightmare vulnerability in the Windows Print Spooler by requiring users to have administrative privileges when using the Point and Print feature to install printer drivers. In June, a security researcher accidentally disclosed a zero-day Windows print spooler vulnerability dubbed PrintNightmare (CVE-2021-34527).
