With the introduction of this backlit keyboard case, Logitech brings to the 9.7-inch iPad Pro the same tech it has been marketing on the high-end 12.9-inch model since last year. This keyboard case stands apart from Apple’s own & from its Bluetooth keyboard competition by making good use of Apple’s Smart Connector, which means that it powers on & pairs with your iPad when you snap it in.
Logitech, which was the 1st manufacturer to make a case for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro besides Apple’s own Smart Keyboard Case, wants the Create to take on the Apple offering by selling it a lower price & with a number of premium features which are lacking in the Apple product.
The Create comes with a handy row of top-mounted shortcut keys giving quick access for adjusting brightness levels, media control, open Safari or return to your home screen. Its keyboard layout is edge-to-edge with mechanical scissor keys & 1.4 mm key travel, a familiar laptop-like experience for full-on responsive typing.
With the Apple Smart Connector integration, besides not having to wait around for Bluetooth pairing by providing instant typing as soon as you snap the device on to your iPad, the keyboard will draw power directly from the iPad, so you’ll never have to charge your keyboard. With the backlighting you can type day or night & choose from several adjustable backlight levels, & the smart power management, turns off backlighting after 8 seconds of inactivity to save on your iPad’s battery charge.
Create also comes with an integrated Apple Pencil holder, providing a handy & safe place to keep it, & you’re provided with a special drawing angle to make it easier to draw & write longhand. Lastly, its case function is also pretty good, providing protection against hits, scratches & spilled liquids. It can easily be wiped clean & is based on a lightweight & structurally sound polycarbonate frame.
