Everything you wanted to know about the new Vivaldi phone browser – e-Why, What & How

launch of the Vivaldi mobile browser

Users of the desktop version of the highly customizable Vivaldi Browser who have always desired similar experience on a mobile device are finally getting their wish granted with the launch of the Vivaldi mobile browser for Android.

The public beta version of the Vivaldi mobile browser offers many of the customization features that users of the desktop version have come to know & love. Current users will be familiar with how this browser works already, but new users will also find it quite intuitive as well thanks to the browser’s simple & clean interface.

When you open a new tab on this browser, you will see grids of ‘Speed Dials’, which includes your bookmarked Sites & other shortcuts. You can easily customize this area based on your preferences.

The Vivaldi mobile browser also comes with the same search engine shortcut feature present in the PC version. Instead of navigating to a search engine you wish to use, you can simply set a custom nickname & type the nickname in the address bar to have your search routed through this engine. This app also offers a notes pad accessible through the “panels” on the bottom left side of the page. This feature, also available in the PC version, makes it possible to type up notes directly on the browser without having to switch apps.

Vivaldi had previously announced that it would need 3.5 million users for the company to attain profitability. While the milestone is still far from sight, the launch of the Vivaldi mobile browser may very well put the company on the path to achieving this target since most people access the internet through their smartphones.

Although there are several other great quality competitors in the same niche including big names like Chrome & Firefox, Vivaldi is pitching its browser as a continuation of the desktop experience, which means you can expect many of the core features of the desktop version on the mobile browser.

So far, Vivaldi has done a great job at this with only a few of the desktop features missing. Most notable of them is the tabs stacking feature which allows you to stack all your tabs into a single tab for a cleaner interface. Hopefully, this will be added in subsequent releases.
